Welcome to my blog. It is my intention to introduce you to
the hidden secrets of Colorado as only a long time resident knows. I moved to
Telluride in 1986 with my husband Harry (aka Steve). We left Beaumont, Texas
with a U-Haul full of all our belongings and traveled 1200 miles to our newly
rented and sight unseen house on the corner of Colorado Avenue (Main Street)
and Townsend. The house was over 100 years old and looked every bit its age. It
was dumpy as most homes in Telluride were at that time……..I Cried! After a good
nights sleep in a hotel, I pulled myself together and realized that I didn’t
move here for a house, I moved for the beauty of Colorado, the climate, the
nature and the adventure. We moved in and later bought the house. We did a
complete renovation, tripled the size and lived there until 2001. We now live
on a sheep ranch on the outskirts of Telluride on Deep Creek Mesa. Some people
think it is an elk farm as we are surrounded with elk year round. It is truly
one of the most beautiful and serene places on earth. Join me as I take you on
a journey through my eyes as I was introduced to Colorado. Together we will
explore the wildlife, the beautiful mountains, wildflowers, local foods, sheep
ranching (an age old profession complete with a sheep herder and his dogs). Stay
tuned for continuous updates of my world and the things I love.
